Wrestler turned movie star Dave Bautista has left the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He says it was a relief because playing Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy was the most terrible experience he’s had in his acting career.
Talking to GQ he said that he is grateful that he played the role of Drax, but at the same time is glad that he is leaving it behind. He further said that the makeup took hours and it was hard playing the role. Dave also said that he doesn’t want Drax to be his legacy and is looking forward to do more dramatic and serious roles in the future.
His last film as Drax the Destroyer will be Guardian of the Galaxy Vol 3, which will be releasing on May 5, 2023.
Dave will be seen in a M. Night Shyamalan movie Knock at the Cabin which will be having its release on February 3, 2023. He will also be seen in the second part of Dune starring opposite Timothy Chalamet.
Before starting his career as a pro wrestler, he was a bouncer at the nation’s capitol, and later on transitioned into acting. He started with small roles in The Scorpion King 3, The Man With the Iron Fists and Riddick which enabled him to get the role of Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy. He then went on to star as a Bond Villain in Spectre, as Sapper Morton in Blade Runner 2049 and as Duke Cody in Glass Onion.
Best of luck to Dave Bautista in his future endeavours.
