Stranger Things famed actor Joseph Quinn has officially joined the cast of Gladiator 2. He will be playing the role of Emperor Caracalla along with Paul Mescal as Lucius, son of Lucilla, grandson of Marcus Aurelius and nephew of Emperor Commodus.

Denzel Washington has already joined the cast in an undisclosed role along with Barry Keoghan who will play the role of Emperor Geta. Connie Nielsen will be returning as Lucilla along with Djimon Hounsou as Juba.

Russell Crowe, who played the titular role of Maximus Decimus Meridius, a tragic warrior turned slave and a gladiator in the original Gladiator, is not yet known to join the cast. Russell has shown interest in reprising his role but says that no one has contacted him yet. Joaquin Phoenix is also not expected to reprise his role as Commodus.

The movie is in pre-production and is expected to release on 22 November, 2024.
