The Vue Cinema, in London’s West End was a-buzz with cinema goers as the most prestigious Raindance film festival for indie filmmakers opened with the UK Premiere of Director Marialy Rivas’s PRINCESITA. With a special focus on Chilean Cinema this year, Marialy Rivas has had the honour of kick-starting the festival, which will continue on to show features, short films, documentaries, music videos including a newly introduced form of showing feature films in VR (Virtual Reality). The Ambassador of Chile to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Mr. David Gallagher was in attendance along with other guests which include the Founder of Raindance Mr. Elliot Grove, 2018 Raindance Jurors Sienna Guillory, Judith Shekoni and Karen Bryson, Director Gillies MacKinnon, Actress Julia Sawalha (Absolutely Fabulous), Chloe Pirrie (War and Peace), Mamie McCoy (The Musketeers) and Pearl Mackie (Doctor Who) among others.
PRINCESITA stars Nathalie Avacedo, Sara Caballero, Marcelo Alonso and María Gracia Omegna. It tells the story of Tamara who escapes from a cult leader Miguel, who wants her complete obedience. Director Marialy Rivas also took part in the Q&A after the screening of the film.
The 26th edition of Raindance Film Festival 2018 has now officially commenced, and will run till 7th October. Don’t miss out on the best Independent Films being screened in London from around the world.
