Jeanne du Barry, starring Johnny Depp as King Louis XV, will be the movie which will open the 76th Edition of Cannes Film Festival 2023. The World Premiere will take place on May 16 and will be screened in the Grand Theatre Lumiere. The movie is directed by Maiwenn, who is playing the role of Jeanne Vaubernier herself.

The film revolves around Jeanne Vaubernier, who becomes the favourite of King Louis XV. They madly fall in love with each other. When she arrives in Versailles, her arrival scandalizes the court.

The movie will release in France on the same date.
