Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Joe Drake has revealed that a fifth instalment of John Wick (Click Here) is now back on the table after the amazing opening it has had at the box office both domestically and internationally. Domestically, the film opened up to $73.8 Million, and internationally it opened up to $67.6 Million.
Initially it was decided that John Wick chapter 4 and chapter 5 would be shot back to back but the idea was scrapped after finalising the ending of chapter 4, in which he dies.
This will not really be the end of John Wick’s appearance on the big screen. The action hero will next be seen in a spin off to John Wick titled ‘Ballerina’, starring Ana De Armas in the titular role as an assassin ballerina named ‘Rooney’ who is out to take revenge against those who killed her family. The events of ‘Ballerina’ will take place between John Wick chapter 3 and chapter 4.
‘Ballerina’ is planned to be released in the spring or the summer of 2024.
