The inaugural event took place from May 20 to 22, dates that coincided with the legendary Cannes Film Festival. The French Riviera festival was hailed as one of the biggest fashion events of the year and attracted a dazzling guest list of A-list designers, emerging artisans and celebrity attendees. As well as showcasing creations at high energy runway shows the festival also featured an exciting calendar of galas, auctions, exhibitions and more.
Landmark luxury establishment Hotel Majestic Barriere will once again host the Cannes Fashion Festival 2016, perfectly located on the prestigious Boulevard de la Croisette. 2016 may only be the festival’s second year but already organizers have plans to expand the extravaganza. The event will now feature three salons, as opposed to the duo seen at this year’s event. As well as salons hosting the main runway and backstage preparation area, organizers will also be adding a third for showrooms and exhibitions.
Once again the Cannes Fashion Festival 2016 will shine the spotlight on dynamism and diversity. Organisers have confirmed that the event will welcome designers of both haute couture and ready to wear apparel, as well as casual, bridal, lingerie, sportswear, jewellery, swimwear and accessories labels. Designer applications are now open.
On-hand to cover this year’s event were journalists hailing from 42 media outlets across 11 countries. Not to mention 27 fashion bloggers creating a global buzz on the red carpet. Next year is expected to generate event more international attention as the Cannes Fashion Festival fortifies its status as one of the fashion industry’s biggest happenings.
