Based on a short story written by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr, the short film, written and directed by Danielle Katvan, is an interesting look at the simplicity of life. It deals with a character who has no interest in materialistic gains, even though he has a chance of getting out of his bad financial situation. THE FOSTER PORTFOLIO Is A Masterpiece Of Cinematography And Script
What stands out the most in this short film is its very artistic cinematography. Everything in the frame, from the characters to the objects placed have all been given special treatment. The director has a great eye for composition. The other factor that stands out is the script, which of course is the back bone of every film. I personally have not read the short story, but the way the short film has been made makes a lot of sense as it conveys the message the film is trying to give.
The performances by Roe Hartrampf, Joel Nagle and Rebecca Watson are very good, the music is of course quite exceptional, as it is Jazz and the transformation of the short story onto film is quite interesting.
