‘OVER’, A SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL SELECTION, REVOLUTIONIZES SHORT FILMS

Director Jörn Threlfall, in his latest short flim ‘Over’, which is a Sundance Film Festival selection, revolutionizes the way a story is told in a very short duration of time.

This Sundance Film Festival Selection is filled with 9 very wide shots, the film gets a feel of Hou Hsiao Hsien/ John Luc Godard films, who along with characters, mix in the environment and the surroundings, making them a part of the story. Having no dialogues and neither a musical score of its own, Jörn Threlfall has only used the natural sounds, such as the wind rustling the leaves on the trees, voices of people talking and walking on the pavement, kids playing, some passing cars and at times pure silence.OVER-1

The story revolves around a very quiet neighbourhood, where no one expects anything to happen out of the ordinary, until one unfortunate morning. Mystery ensues when the police try to bring the pieces together, only to find out something very surprising.

The short film, due to its masterful story telling has successfully been chosen for the next year’s Sundance Film Festival 2016.
