This year, in the 6th Terracotta Far East Film Festival 2014, the spotlight is on Philippines. The Terracotta Far East Film Festival has proved to be a good platform for bringing forward films from Philippines which has not gotten that much of attention from the international film audience. Films by Directors Raya Martin, Erik Matti, Veronica Velasco, Nathan Adolfson and Siege Ledesma will be screened at the festival. The ‘Spotlight on: Philippines’ section of the Terracotta Far East Film Festival will take place at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London from 23rd till the 27th of May.
23rd MAY
Director Erik Matti
The film that will start the ‘Spotlight on: Philippines’ and the 6th Terracotta Far East Film Festival 2014 will be Director Erik Matti’s film ‘On The Job’. Director Erik Matti will also be present at the screening of his film and will take part in the Q&A session in the end.
‘On The Job’ is a crime thriller starring Joel Torre, Gerald Anderson and Piolo Pascual. It’s a story of jail inmates, who are released temporarily to carry out assassinations.
24th MAY
Two films will be shown on this day
Director Siege Ledesma
The first film will be Director Siege Ledesma’s ‘Shift’. Actor Felix Rocco will be present at the screening of the film and will take part in the Q&A session in the end.
‘Shift’ is a drama film starring Yeng Constantino, Felix Rocco, Matt Valena and Alex Medina. It’s the story of Estella, who falls for her mentor Trevor, who is openly gay.
Director Nathan Adolfson
The second film will be Director Nathan Adolfson’s ‘A Thief, a Kid and a Killer’. Director Nathan Adolfson, Producer Gene Lacson and Actor Felix Rocco will be present at the film screening and will take part in the Q&A session in the end.
‘A Thief, a Kid and a Killer’ is a crime drama starring Felix Rocco, Arvi Viduya, Epy Quizone, Lance Raymundo, Jack Falcis and Jade Lopez. The story is about a bullied kid who has a chance encounter with a thief and a killer hidden in his house.
25th MAY
This day also, two films will be shown
Director Veronica Velasco
The first film will be Director Veronica Velasco’s ‘Tuhog’.
‘Tuhog’ is a dark comedy film starring Eugine Domingo, Enchong Dee, Leo Martinez, Empress Schuck and Jake Cuenca. It’s a flashback story about three strangers who get entangled with each other in a bus accident.
Director Raya Martin
The second film will be Director Raya Martin’s film ‘How to Disappear Completely’.
‘How to Disappear Completely’ is an Experimental film starring Nonie Buancamino, Shamaine Buencamino and Ness Roque. It’s a story of a little girl who wants to disappear from the suffocations of life and its hardships.
27th May
Director Andrew Leavold
The last day of the ‘Spotlight on: Philippines’ section of the 6th Terracotta Far East Film Festival 2014 will bring a film by Director Andrew Leavold ‘The Search for Weng Weng’.
‘The Search for Weng Weng’ is a documentary film starring Eddie Nicart, Boby A Suarez, Franco Guerrerro, Maria Isabel Lopez and Rodolfo Vera Quizon. It’s a documentary on a Filipino actor Weng Weng. The Director goes in search of Weng Weng to Philippines and to know about his life outside stardom.
