Although the film has been shot in Downtown Los Angeles, the actual ordeal that Frida Farrell herself went through was in the heart of London, and that was behind the busiest area of Oxford Street. The director Rudolf Buitendach said that this film is a cautionary tale, and the idea was to tell a story in which Isobel could be every sex traffic victim who has gone through a similar kind of ordeal. Frida Farrell said that the reason from the beginning was to take my worst experience and try to make something good which could help others in being more cautious and not end up into that situation.

The people were curious to know how Frida really escaped and Glynn Turner the writer pushed her to tell what really happened. She said that she was locked up in a room in a basement apartment and one day her captor came to her and told her that she had only two minutes to get ready. When he went out she noticed she didn’t hear the door lock tick. She went to the door and was surprised to see that it was opened. Realising that she only had about thirty seconds to make her escape, she very carefully went up the stairs and on the main floor she found a door man. They had a moment of an eye to eye contact with each other and thinking that maybe the door man was also in on it, she ran as fast as she could. She ran about ten or fifteen blocks away until she realised that he’s not after her.
The cinematography for SELLING ISOBEL is done by Stefan Ciupek, whose notable work includes 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire. Sound by Per Hallberg at the Formosa Group (Spectre, Skyfall), Composer NoFi and the Editor Dan Loghin.
