Hou Hsiao Hsien, a world renowned Taiwanese Director whose contribution to the world of cinema is full of beautiful, moving and emotional drama films. He debuted as a Director with his first full length feature film ‘Cute Girl’ in 1980, and thus moved on to making great masterpieces like ‘A Time To Live, A Time To Die’ (1985), ‘A City of Sadness’ (1989), and ‘Three Times’ (2005) for which he won numerous awards. Currently he won Best Director Award at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival for the film ‘Assassin’ starring Shu Qi.
After winning the Best Director Award at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, the British Film Institute has brought forward a collection of films for the public to watch. Director Hou Hsiao-Hsien will also be making a rare appearance at the BFI on Friday 14th September for a conversation hosted by Tony Rayns, an expert in Asian Films who will discuss his career as a Director, Producer and an Actor with him.
