‘POETRY’, IN THE 9TH LONDON KOREAN FILM FESTIVAL 2014.

poetryDirected by Lee Chang-Dong, this film will be screened in the 9th London Korean Film Festival 2014 on Saturday 8th November, in London Odeon West End.

Starring Yun Jung-Hee, David Lee, Kim Hui-Ra, Ahn Nae-Sang and Kim Yong-Taek, the film tell the story of an elderly lady in her 60’s (Yun Jung-Hee) works as a caregiver for a disabled man & raises her grandson alone. She has to endure the onset of Alzheimer’s disease and also learns that her grandson was one of the attackers of a junior high school girl that committed suicide. Through all of this and to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a poet the elderly woman starts to take a poetry class and composes poems

Filmmaker Lee Chang-dong has written and director a slew of award winning films including, Green Fish, Oasis, Secret Sunshine and Peppermint Candy. A number of these films have focused on the incredible performances of its female leads with Moon So-ri and Jeon Do-yeon winning accolades around the world. Poetry is no different with a subtle yet stirring performance from actress Yun Jung-hee as the aspiring poet battling against a stark reality.
